Projects

ED Expansion, Anderson Hospital - Maryville, IL

We were awarded a contract by the Anderson Hospital system to expand the existing emergency department, including exam, triage, and major treatment rooms.

During the course of design, I worked extra time in our department in the existing Revit model. I created plan and section details using our company standards, window and door legends, room finish and material schedules, as well as renderings in Enscape to share with consultants.

Our most impressive endeavor during the project was the creation of a life-size mockup of two patient rooms. I exported the sheets at a custom size to be printed by our large printer and gave them to the company's Diversivied Operations department to assemble. During our client meeting, we marked up different parts of the drawings where items needed to be moved, added, or replaced.

Repair Student BEQ, NAVFAC - Twentynine Palms, CA

Located in the California desert, the Student BEQ is a dormitory for new recruits to the US Armed Forces. We were awarded a $32 million contract to fix the building, including a replacement of all dorms, replacement of ceilings, most walls, windows, etc. As of this year, the site is undergoing demolition and is expected to reach completion by 2026.

I created a Revit model from scratch, using record and as-built construction documents. I adjusted the project in Revit based on pricing drawings and RFIs sent in from managers and other consultants. During the course of construction, I took meeting minutes weeky for department meetings, including meetings with the government. I exported several progress sets to be presented in said meetings, and even helped create a design for a new ABA (Architectural Barriers Act) unit for the dormitory. I created Basis of Design documents to share with clients, coordinated with subcontractors to make sure all disciplines of the project are kept up to date, and used Autodesk Construction Cloud to manage project models across seven different subs.

Record Drawings, USPS - Indianapolis, IN

I used Autodesk Navisworks to conduct clash detection between the architecture model and several other consultant models to see if any overlaps ocurred. In doing so, I informed subcontractors of potential issues in the course of construction.

Press Box Design, Highland Quarterback Club - Highland, IL

The Highland Quarterback Club gave us a few items of note to design a press box that would replace the current one. Using these notes, I created a design in Revit from scratch and conducted site visits to verify site dimensions. During one of the site visits, I identified the manufacturer of the surrounding seating. I found the shop drawings for these and recreated them in Revit as a generic model to be placed into the project for rendering.

Showroom Remodel, Knapheide - Quincy, IL

During the course of design, I marked up different in Revit as demolished or new construction. I created renderings to share with consultants, and included in the rendering an imported Revit family that I modified to account for various notes given by the client.

Office Remodel, Distinctive Dermatology - Fairview Heights, IL

I was given the task to remodel the office using a few markups. During the course of design, I used the Building Options feature in Revit to quickly swap between different concepts when in a meeting with the client.

Office Remodel, Anderson Hospital - Maryville, IL

Similar to the Dermatology remodel, I was tasked with reconfiguring the third floor of Anderson Hospital's office building from having just one office to two, by dividing the area into half. We had to reconfigure several rooms by moving casework around. I divised a plan to show this change by overriding the graphics of each casework item with a highlight and drawing a number over it in elevation to show where it would be relocated to. In doing so, it made this part of the reconfiguration process simpler to those who will carry it out.

During the design process, I created keynotes, partition type details, door and window elevations, and reconfigured existing families in Revit to reflect how the office floor would look before and after each building phase.

MaRS Expansion, USPS - Jersey City, NJ

My first in-depth experience with USPS projects. I learned USPS drafting standards and applied them to our existing project. During the design process, I worked mainly with standard details for stairs, doors, windows, and walls, as well as dimensioning enlarged plans where our scope of work took place. The facility is by far the largest project I've worked on in terms of gross building area, measuring in at easily over a million square feet.
